Autumn/Winter 2017: Assessment: A Psychodynamic Perspective

Ruszczynski introduces the task of assessment as ‘a highly charged emotional situation’, (2011). Assessment for psychotherapy involves the consideration of the referral, consultation, transference and countertransference, , contraindications, the difference between diagnosis and assessment, as well as boundaries and difficulties.

The upcoming Autumn/Winter 2017 Series will explore assessment in Disability Psychotherapy. The group will consider these issues through reading material circulated in advance. The two and half hour group will take the format of group discussion of the assigned paper, followed by a break, and concluding with a reflective practice session that will focus on the material discussed in the first part of the morning. Discussion meetings are limited to a small number of participants (8-12) therefore early booking is advisable. The fee is nominal to cover room booking and tea/coffee.
